Mont Vernon


Mont Vernon is a scenic, rural-suburban town located in the hills northwest of Amherst. Its pretty main road blooms with flowers in the spring, and motorists leaving town via Route 13 South, which descends sharply and affords a wide view of mountains and foliage, see a sign proclaiming, “Enjoy the view!”

The town’s estimated population was about 2,400 at the last census, and its single school, the Mont Vernon Village School, serves about 187 students in grades K-6. Students in grades 7-8 attend Amherst Middle School, and those in grades 9-12 attend Souhegan High School, in neighboring Amherst.

According to city-data.com, the town’s estimated median household income in 2012 was $92,211, and the estimated median home price was $312,218.
